Welcome to
Gresham Area Branch of AAUW, Inc.
The Gresham Branch of AAUW, Inc. has 36 members strong. The branch was founded in 1971 by Marilyn Zook, our first president. Our members come from the greater Gresham Metro area and surrounding communities.
We are a community of working and retired professionals. Many of our members are highly visible community leaders, and some have been recognized as award winning volunteers at the local and state levels.
Currently, we are proud to share a membership which includes state and local officials, and board members of prominent nonprofit organizations.
What We Do
Our major priority is to support the national activities and programs of our parent organization, the American Association of University Women, Inc. (AAUW)
We are a 501(c)(3) public charity and Oregon public benefit corporation. Our branch provides programs on women’s and girls’ issues, community projects, and women’s outreach activities.
We give an annual tuition assistance scholarship to an outstanding second-year woman student attending Mount Hood Community College.
We also award an all-expense-paid scholarship to attend the National Conference For Collège Women Student Leaders (NCCWSL), the nation’s premier conference for college women.
Striving for Equity Since 1881
Over the past 140 years, AAUW has evolved to become the leading voice in advancing gender equity in education and workplaces everywhere. Through research, education and advocacy, we’re committed to ensuring everyone gets the same opportunity to learn, earn and lead.
